Food Pantry
For approximately nine years, Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church has sponsored a food pantry serving low and moderate income families residing in Johnston County. Each week, two or three volunteers go to the Food Bank in Raleigh to purchase about 1,000 pounds of food to be distributed to 100 plus families on Thursday mornings. This mission has grown from a small closet of baby food to one of Johnston County’s largest food pantries. It takes approximately ten volunteers a total of 40 hours each Thursday to make this mission possible. It costs around $5,000 per year to run this program. Last year approximately 40 tons of food was distributed to over 5,000 families. This translates into 15,000 plus individuals being served in this Mission.
Hours of Operation: Thursdays 8:00 am – 11:00 or until 150 families have been served!
Edgerton’s Food Pantry has enrolled in the Food Lion Rewards Program. Please consider registering your Food Lion MVP card to help support our Food Pantry. Just go to http://www.foodlion.com to start the process.
